Chengfei Huang is from Chengde, Hebei Province, China. She earned her Master's and Ph. D. degrees in Animal Nutrition and Feed Science from China Agricultural University (CAU), Beijing, China. She conducted her research work with her supervisor Dr. Defa Li at the Ministry of Agriculture Feed Industry Centre (MAFIC). At MAFIC, she was trained in important skills like feed processing technology, feed formulation, T-cannula surgery on pigs, and some molecular skills.

She worked for MAFIC from 2011 until 2015, mainly on pig feed ingredient evaluation and pig feed ingredient database setup. Her group evaluated more than 20 kinds of pig feed ingredients and at least 10 samples of each ingredient. More than 300 corn samples, nearly 100 wheat samples and 80 corn DDGS samples were also evaluated with NIR technique.

Dr. Huang spent a year as a visiting scholar in the Stein lab before returning to MAFIC in early 2016. Among the experiments she worked on during her time here were studies of energy and amino acid digestibility in soy protein concentrate with different particle sizes.
