Gloria Casas

My name is Gloria Casas and I am from Colombia. I graduated from the Veterinary Faculty of National University of Colombia, and I got my master's in Animal Science with emphasis in monogastric nutrition from the same University, under the direction of Dr. German Afanador. I have worked in swine production since 1996 as consultant in some swine farms in Colombia in the areas of nutrition, health and reproduction. Currently, I am a professor in the Veterinary Faculty of The National University of Colombia.

In 2014, in my sabbatical year, I had the opportunity to join to Stein Monogastric Nutrition laboratory as a Visiting Scholar; during that time I conducted two experiments to determine the digestibility of amino acids and phosphorus in rice co-products. Last fall, Dr. Stein accepted me as a PhD student; I am really honored about it. During my PhD I will continue working on nutritional evaluation of rice co-products.  My commitment is learn as much as I can, get experience in research, and meet people to serve to my country, my University and my family, whom I thank for their support.

Doctoral dissertation:
Nutritional evaluation of rice coproducts fed to pigs (in progress)
