I am from Lopez, Quezon, Philippines. Inspired by my parents who are both Agriculturists, I decided to take up BS Agriculture in the University of the Philippines in Los Baños (UPLB), major in Animal Science, with specialization in Animal Nutrition. After graduation, I was given the opportunity to work in a feed mill company where I learned more about the animal industry. After almost two years, I decided to take my Master’s degree in UPLB. I worked on the determination of the digestibility of phosphorus in the rice bran fed to pigs. The topic was realized with the invaluable help of Dr. Rommel Sulabo, who was then a visiting professor from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) and Dr. Hans Stein, professor in UIUC.

I was privileged to meet Dr. Stein when he went to Manila in 2012 and has since then been fascinated by the research they were conducting in his laboratory. Upon the completion of my Master’s degree, I was inspired to learn more about animal nutrition and decided to pursue further education.

I am privileged and honored to be part of the Hans H. Stein Monogastric Laboratory team. My sincerest thanks to Dr. Stein for this opportunity, and to all people who helped me in the whole process.
