Jung earned a B.S. degree in Chemistry from the University of Illinois, with a minor in Animal Sciences. As an undergrad, he worked at the Stein lab, where his primary responsibilities were to conduct chemical sample analyses by measuring digestible and metabolizable energy values in various sources of swine diets, feces, and urine samples from research pigs. Then, under the supervision of Dr. Stein, Jung completed his Master's degree in Animal Sciences with an emphasis in swine nutrition. His Master's thesis was focused on evaluation of corn germ and distillers dried grains with solubles (DDGS) in diets fed to pigs. He worked as a swine nutritionist for CJ Feeds in Seoul before returning to the United States to continue his graduate education. Jung is now a Ph.D. student at San Diego State University.
