Achievements

Oscar Rojas was selected as a recipient of a 2015 American Society of Animal Science (ASAS) Midwest Section Young Scholar Award. The Young Scholar Award recognizes and features the research accomplishments of recent Ph.D. graduates or current Ph.D. students in the advanced stages of their program at the annual Midwestern ADSA/ASAS meetings. Congratulations to Oscar!

Travel and visitors

Oscar was one of three Young Scholars selected by the Spanish Foundation for the Development of Animal Nutrition (FEDNA) to receive an all-expenses-paid trip to present their research at the annual FEDNA meeting. While in Spain, Oscar visited Pilar and met with her professor, Dr. Mateos, and members of his lab. He also took a trip to Paris for vacation.

Representatives from Dow and Elanco visited with our lab and Dr. Parsons' on November 17 to talk about the joint research their companies are doing, and to discuss career opportunities.

Lab activities

Neil finished animal work for an experiment to test the effects on performance of using direct fed microbials in high fiber and low fiber diets. He began animal work for another study with the same ingredients, this time to test nutrient digestibility.
