My name is Alice Luciano. I’m from the North of Italy. I live near Como, in a small town called Lurate Caccivio, very close to the border with Switzerland. I’ve always loved to work with animals, especially horses, cows and pigs, and I’ve always been interested in animal nutrition and agriculture.

I got my Master Degree in Animal Production at the University of Milan in 2017. My thesis was about the predicted glycemic index in former food products intended for pig nutrition.

In October 2018 I started my PhD in Nutritional Science always in Milan, which allowed me to continue working on the sustainability of pig nutrition. In my first year of PhD I participated in a in vivo trial to study the effects of bakery and confectionary former food on growth performance, energy status, metabolomics and gut health. I’ve also worked on images analysis for the rapid detection of residues from packaging remnants such plastic, paper and aluminum in former foodstuff.

Now, for the second year of my PhD, I got the opportunity to work for six months in the Stein Monogastric Nutrition Laboratory. I’m very proud to be part of Dr. Stein’s research team, is a pleasure to me to be involved in their researches and I hope to learn more about pig nutrition.
