Amy Hernandez-Lozano

My name is Amy Hernandez-Lozano, I was born and raised in Elgin, IL but I come from a Colombian background. I have always had an immense love for animals and agriculture, which is why I decided to attend the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign. In May 2025 I graduated with my Bachelor's degree in Animal Science and a minor in Ecology and Conservation Biology.

I was blessed enough to join the Stein Monogastric Nutrition Laboratory very early on in my freshman year at the university; after graduating I was granted the opportunity to join the lab full-time under Dr. Stein! I have appreciated my time with everyone at this lab. I am excited to continue and learn more from each individual here.

I look forward to pursuing higher education, although I am not exactly sure in what area specifically yet! I am very interested in different areas such as conservation, nutrition, precision agriculture, and the biotech industry.
