Diego Guerrero Huerta

I came from Mexico, where I completed my undergraduate degree in Veterinary Medicine and Zootechnics at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). I then pursued a Master’s degree in Science, with both of my theses supervised by Dr. Cuaron.

My academic foundation in animal production has given me the motivation to continue learning. Through my Master’s studies, I realized that I enjoy scientific methodologies, and doing research specializing in swine nutrition.

With over eight years of experience, I have applied my knowledge across various organizations, including INIFAP and Auburn University, where I served as a research assistant under Dr. Cuaron and Dr. Starkey, respectively. My roles involved data management, feed formulation, clinical pathology, and pork quality evaluation.

Formerly, I work as a swine nutrition consultant at “NUTRIX” a Mexican company, helping clients enhance their production outcomes while navigating challenges related to budget and competition.

Additionally, as a founding member and actual president of the Liaison Committee for the Mexican Association of Specialists in Animal Nutrition (AMENA), I foster collaboration between professionals, educational institutions, and research centers. I have organized workshops and networking events that connect students with essential development opportunities in animal nutrition.

Now, I will be pursuing my Ph.D. under the supervision of Dr. Hans Stein. I am incredibly grateful to him and his team for providing me with this opportunity.
