Gloria Casas graduated from the Veterinary Faculty of National University of Colombia. She got her master's degree in Animal Science with emphasis in monogastric nutrition from the same University, under the direction of Dr. German Afanador. She has worked in swine production since 1996 as a consultant to swine farms in Colombia in the areas of nutrition, health and reproduction. Currently, she is a professor in the Veterinary Faculty of The National University of Colombia.
In 2014, in her sabbatical year, she had the opportunity to join to Stein Monogastric Nutrition laboratory as a visiting scholar; during that time she conducted two experiments to determine the digestibility of amino acids and phosphorus in rice co-products. Later that year she came back to start a Ph.D., which she completed in 2018. Her doctoral dissertation was on nutritional evaluation of rice co-products.
