Hi, my name is Juliana C. F. R. Martins, and I am from Franca, São Paulo, Brazil. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Animal Sciences in 2018 from São Paulo State University, Jaboticabal Campus. As part of my degree program, I completed an internship at LabSui in the Department of Animal Science, where I gained hands-on experience working with pigs in the university’s swine unit.

In 2019, I began working at a full-cycle commercial pig farm in Brazil, where I worked as a manager and administrative assistant for three and a half years. My main responsibilities included managing personnel, organizing daily operations, overseeing the feed mill, forecasting and monitoring feed consumption, vaccinating the herd, purchasing supplies, recording and reporting production data, and managing the inventory of farm inputs and medications.

In August 2022, I joined the Stein Monogastric Nutrition Laboratory as a research scholar, where I gained experience in both laboratory and farm research. I am now thrilled to be pursuing my master’s degree as a member of Dr. Stein’s team, and I am extremely grateful for the opportunities and experiences I have gained. I look forward to continuing to contribute to the team, expanding my knowledge, and contributing to the swine industry.
