My name is Julio Mioto, I am originally from Brazil, where I earned my Animal Science degree from the Faculty of Animal Science and Food Engineering at the University of Sao Paulo (FZEA/USP).

During my undergrad program, I performed volunteer internships, attended conferences, assisted in some research projects, and developed my own undergrad research projects in the areas of forages and poultry nutrition. In the fall of 2016, I got a scholarship from the University of Sao Paulo that allowed me to do a two-month internship at the University of Florida. In 2018-2019, I did a one-year internship in the Department of Poultry Science at Mississippi State University.

I had the opportunity to meet Dr. Stein, he offered me to come to the University of Illinois as a visiting scholar, where I join Stein Monogastric Nutrition Laboratory to improving my knowledge of swine nutrition.

I hope to contribute to the Stein Lab team and learn a lot from them. I am very grateful to Dr. Stein for this big opportunity.
