Von Gervic Mesina is from Laguna, Philippines. At an early age, he was exposed to food production and farm living while spending his vacations at his grandparents' farm. Influenced by his inclination to rural life, he studied and graduated with a BS in Animal Science specializing in Animal Production from the University of the Philippines Los Baños. His undergraduate thesis aimed to establish best management practices in poultry brooder farms. Driven by his passion for scientific endeavor, he pursued further education at the University of the Philippines Los Baños as an MS Animal Science student majoring in Animal Nutrition and minoring in Biochemistry under Dr. Rommel C. Sulabo.

In July 2017, he came to our lab to conduct his graduate research work. During his time here he completed two experiments and wrote his Master's thesis. In July 2018, he returned to UPLB in the Philippines to complete the remaining requirements for his MS degree.
