Lab activities

Oscar finished animal work for an experiment to investigate effects of corn particle size on growth performance, carcass characteristics, and gastric ulcer generation in growing-finishing pigs. He also started an experiment on the effects of different corn particle sizes on growth performance in weanling pigs.

Diego started a study of amino acid digestibility in seven sources of soybean and rapeseed products fed to weanling pigs.

Kate started an experiment to determine carbohdyrate digestibility in growing pigs fed diets containing carbohydrases, and another experiment to determine the digestibility of nutrients and energy in diets containing liquid fiber products fed to growing pigs.

Travel

Dr. Stein, Dr. Liu, and all students in the lab traveled to the 2013 ADSA-ASAS Midwest Sectional Meeting in Des Moines, Iowa on March 11-13. Kelly, Ferdinando, Oscar, Caroline, Neil, and Jessica presented posters; Neil, John, Oscar, Tanawong, Ferdinando, Caroline gave oral presentations.

Dr. Stein traveled to Ghana to explore opportunities for collaborative research.
