Effects of altering bed depth in the desolventizer/toaster used in soybean meal preparation on nutrient digestibility by ileally cannulated pigs and cecectomized roosters. J. Anim. Take-home message:

  • Increasing the bed depth increases the degree of heating.
  • There were no differences in total essential amino acid digestibilities.
  • The highest total nonessential amino acid and total amino acid digestibilities were noted when pigs were fed soybean meal processed with the strongest heat treatments of those tested.
