Cristhiam Muñoz is from Bogotá, Colombia. He studied animal science at the National University of Colombia with a focus on swine production and nutrition of monogastric species. His undergraduate thesis was a business plan of a pig enterprise, from which he concluded that nutrition plays a key role in business success.

In 2015, he came to the Stein lab as a visiting scholar on the recommendation of Dr. Gloria Casas and her husband, German Guerrero, DVM. He spent six months with us before returning to Colombia to finish the requirements for his Bachelor's degree. In 2016, he returned as a visiting scholar to take over lab management duties. In January 2018, Cristhiam began his Master's degree work and he completed this work and successfully defended his Master's thesis in December 2019. Now Cristhiam is a visiting researcher in Dr. Lee-Anne Huber's Lab in the Department of Animal Biosciences at the University of Guelph in Canada.
