November 2024 Lab News

Achievements

On November 12th, our senior Ph D Candidate Jessica Acosta passed her preliminary examination. On November 4th, Nelson Camilo Ruiz successfully defended his MS thesis entitled “Nutritional evaluation by growing pigs of five sources of full fat soybeans grown in different geographical regions in the United States”.

New Experiments

Diego Rodriguez and the farm crew started at the farm an experiment about Standardized ileal digestibility of amino acids in four sources of egg products fed to weanling pigs. Leidy Torres Ph D Student started a trial about growth performance of weanling pigs fed enzyme-treated soybean meal

Conferences

Doctor Stein gave some conferences at:

Pig Research Summit, Copenhagen, Denmark, Nov. 20-21.

  • Net energy in soybean meal and other feedstuffs
  • Impact of processing ingredients and diets on nutritional value

Joint FAO-IAEA Scientific Advisory Group Meeting on Construction of a Database on Ileal Digestibility of Protein and Amino Acids in Foods Consumed by Ilumans. Paris, Nov. 26-29, 2024.

  • Ileal digestibility of amino acids determined in pigs

Personnel changes

After almost 5 years as a post doctoral research fellow, Dr. Su A Lee became a Research Scientist in our lab. Congratulations on your new position.
